Clyde W. "Bud" Butler, age 89 of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born in Defiance on April 9, 1937 to the late Russell and Flora (Doyle) Butler. On September 9, 1960 he married Doris (Adkins) Butler who preceded him in death on May 11, 1976. On July 28, 1978 he married Jeanne (Napier) Butler, who survives.

Clyde worked for 47 years at S & K Tools until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed many great times spent with Jeannie on the Great Lakes. He loved Corvettes and also enjoyed camping and gardening. Clyde took great pride in his work and loved being surrounded by his family.

Clyde is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jeannie Butler, his son, Mark (Kelly) Butler, and brother, Merlin "Joe" (Sue) Butler. Also surviving are his children by his marriage to Jeannie, Lynda (Joe) Larcom, Troy (Mary) Bowling, Judy (Mark) Hageman, and John (Juli) Bowling. Bud also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Gwen Taylor and Katie Melton, and brothers-in-law, Gary Napier and Gene Yenser.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Nola Stoller, Helen Yenser, and Norma Jean Phlipot, and his brother, Russell Butler.

Visitation and services will be held at Bethel Christian Church in Arthur, Ohio on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm with a Celebration of Life following at 2:00 pm. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
