Larry L. Hill Sr., age 85, of Defiance, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

He was born in Napoleon, Ohio on July 31, 1941 to the late George and Cora (Flint) Hill. Larry proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. On May 24, 1966 he married Ruth Hubert, who survives.

Larry worked for over 25 years at Johns Manville in Defiance until his retirement. He was known to never sit still and had an extraordinary work ethic. He was a very talented wood worker. In his leisure time he also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and above all, spending time with his family. Larry was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Ruth Hill of Defiance, his son Larry L. Hill, Jr., two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two sisters, Janet Scott and Dorthann Rippee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Larry will be laid to rest in Sherman Cemetery.
