Cindy L. Newman, age 70, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital.

She was born on February 17, 1956 to the late James and Nancy (Brewer) Eitniear. On April 27, 1974 she married Wayne S. Newman, who survives.

Cindy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was the heart and soul of her family. She loved boat rides and motorcycle rides with her husband Wayne, golfing, and watching the hummingbirds. She will be sadly missed by her family and many good friends.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Newman of Defiance, her sons, Brent Newman and Lance (Lindsay) Newman, seven beloved grandchildren; Austin (Sydney Roehrig) Hilvers, Gavin (Hannah) Reid, Carson, Jaxson and Nora Newman, Joanna and Carter Newman, and great-grandson, Hudson Hilvers. She also leaves behind her sisters, Becky Bidlack and Kathy (Sid) Weber.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lindsay Newman, sister Connie Jo Eitniear, and brother-in-law Jim Bidlack.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Cindy will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
