Sunday
Schaffer Funeral Home
2:00 - 7:00 pm (Eastern time)
Diana A. Harmon, age 70, of Defiance, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 12, 2026 at Ohio Health Doctor's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born in San Juan, Texas on November 22, 1955 to the late Rumaldo and Maria (Fonseca) Villarreal. On October 9, 2003 she married Claude Harmon, who survives.
Diana was a former member of St. John Catholic Church, and was very active in the VFW #3360, AmVets #1991, Eagles #372, and Moose Lodge #2094, where she would cook delicious Mexican Dinners for everyone. She loved cooking for others. Mexican food and Tamales were her specialty. Diana loved Thanksgiving to spend time with her family, and also the fall weather so she could wear her boots. She enjoyed dancing and was a huge fan of Michael Jackson, Earth Wind and Fire, and disco music. She loved Michael Jordan, Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs basketball, and Dallas Cowboys football. Nobody dared interrupt her during any game. She also had a green thumb and was very creative with her plants. Diana especially loved all her outdoor cats, feeding and naming every single one. She enjoyed playing the lottery and taught her son to play for her at a very young age.
Diana was extremely proud of her large family and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a heart of gold, always giving back to family, friends, and strangers. Her children and husband say she was the best wife and mother anyone could have. She was one of a kind, very selfless and only wanted a thank-you in return for all that she did for everyone. Diana had an unbreakable bond with her daughter and had nicknames for everyone. Her love for her family and others was truly an inspiration that will never be forgotten.
Diana is survived by her loving husband, Claude Harmon of Defiance, her daughter, Tara (Paul) Cordova of Hilliard, OH, and son, Demetrius (Beth Chavis) Villarreal of Celina, OH. She also leaves behind five grandchildren; Lance Cordova, Liana Ligon, Angel Cordova, Darius Villarreal, and Tyra (Ryen Rapp) Villarreal, three great-grandchildren; Nehemiah Riley, Xeniah Reed, and Ryen Rapp Jr., her step-children; Diana Lynn Harmon, Claude Harmon Jr., Shawn Harmon, Vaughn Harmon, Tenille Maryweather, and Bryan Harmon, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, and her siblings; Martha Vargas, Juanita Castillo, and Maria "Selia" (Ramiro Bernal) Villarreal.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings; Antonio Villarreal, Ninfa Rodriguez, Maria Castillo, Rosa Gomez, and Ricardo Villarreal.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026 from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Eulogy service will be held at 4:30 for her family to honor Diana and share their memories.
Memorials are suggested to the National Downs Syndrome Society, to honor her newest great-grandson. Online condolences can be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
