Phyllis K. Lero, age 70, of Defiance, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday evening, October 4, 2026 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born in Weston, West Virginia on May 1, 1956 to the late Herbert and Lydia (Donaldson) Sprouse. On May 19, 1979 she married George Lero, who survives.

Phyllis dedicated much of her life as a paraprofessional for several schools in Northwest Ohio, including Hilltop in West Unity. She also enjoyed working at Pizza Hut for many years. Phyllis loved spoiling her grandchildren, cooking, baking and sewing. She will be greatly missed by so many that loved her.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, George Lero of Defiance, her son, Terry (Jennifer) Romaker of Beavercreek, OH, her grandchildren, Zoe and Haley Romaker, and many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 1:00 with Celebrant Tori Hope Petersen officiating.
