Velma A. Bunke, 101, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Kingsbury Place in Defiance.   
  
She was born on October 9, 1914 to  Charles and Lalah (Bordner) Zachrich in Defiance County.  On July 23, 1935 she married Albert Bunke, who preceded her in death on February 1, 1996. 
  
Velma was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Ayersville, Ohio. She was a member of the Ladies Aide, and was the church organist for  65 years. Velma enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family, and traveling. She loved spending winters in Florida.
  
Velma will be sadly missed by her family; daughters, Shirley Lamb-Keller, and Janice (Dave) Haney-Brown, both of Defiance, 5 Grandchildren, Mark (Peg) Lamb, Robert (Ann) Lamb, Steven Lamb, Charles (Jarmila) Haney, and Lisa Haney, 7 great-grandchildren, and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Louella Switzer of Port Clinton, Ohio, and Elnora Westrick of Defiance. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albert Bunke, granddaughter, Julie Lamb, brothers Lavern and Charles Zachrich, sisters, Lillian Colwell and Fae Lang.
  
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Monday, August 22, 2016 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon on  Monday, August 22, 2016 at the church, with Rev. William Stottlemyer officiating. Burial will take place at St. Stephen Lutheran Cemetery.
