Carol "Sue" Porter, 88, of Defiance, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Monday morning, April 20, 2026 at Kingsbury Place in Defiance, Ohio. She was born on February 7, 1938 to Charles and Helen (McCauley) McGue in Lima, Ohio. Sue was a 1956 graduate of Defiance High School. On February 27, 1959 she married Edburt "Ed" Porter, who preceded her in death on May 23, 2025.

Sue's deep-rooted faith was a guiding force in her life. She was an active and faithful member of Defiance Christian Church. She worked at JC Penney for several years until her retirement. Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who found joy in painting, art work, and attending Bible Study group. Above all she cherished her time spent with her family. Sue is survived by her children, Teresa (James Kirk) Roughton of Oakwood, OH, Charles Porter of Defiance, and Joseph (Lida) Porter of Whitehouse, OH, daughter-in-law Sandy Porter, brother-in-law Dave Mast, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Michael Porter and Kenny Porter, brother William (Carol) McGue, and her sisters, Patricia (Ralph) Dellinger and Sandy Mast. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street) in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Michael Hasselbring officiating. Sue will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
