Dear Gardner family:
My deepest condolences on the passing of Roger. Both my sons played little league for him and he was always a positive influence and their biggest cheerleader. He made the game fun for all the boys on the team. Today, I just happened to see there was a game at Kingsbury park and so I stopped by to see Defiance in the championship game. Defiance started to get a series of hits and as an homage to Roger, I shouted one of his favorite sayings: "Keep the Merry-Go-Round going....!!" It made me smile. He will be certainly missed.

I was saddened to hear Roger Passed. He was a Marine and Devil Dog. We enjoyed traveling with him - the three brothers Roger, Chuck and Ron. Roger always had the blowup bed a story in itself! I offer condolences to his family!

I was deeply saddened when I read of the passing of PDD Roger Gardner. We were friends for many years.I am extremely proud of his outstanding efforts on behalf of the Military Order of Devil Dogs, and the Marine Corps League.
I will dearly miss the times we spent together at National Conventions, and Mid Winter Staff Meetings.
I very much respect his religious beliefs, and know he is on duty at Heavens Gates, where at some time in the future, we will all enroll.
Rest in peace my Brother.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Roger throughout the years as the former Aquatics Director at the YMCA. He was one of the first people in the pool every morning, and was a pleasant way to start my days! I will cherish all the witty little sayings, life lessons, and the words of wisdom he shared with myself and all the others he came across. He will be greatly missed! -Jordan Wagner

Roger served as my boss as the Board Chairman at the NW Ohio Juvenile Detention, Training & Rehabilitation Center for almost 10 years. He was a true gentlemen, dedicated to his family and to serving the Detention Center in anyway possible. He was a great man who I admire greatly. He is truly missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with all family and friends of Rogers. I knew Roger through baseball and he is a awesome person and I thank him for his service to our country and our youth. I always remember him saying at baseball games "keep the merry go round going" and I always say that. Rest in Peace.
