Marianne E. Baringer, 84, of Defiance, passed away on Monday morning, September 5, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.  
  
She was born on April 7, 1932 to James and Amelia (Stork) Shafer in Paulding County, Ohio. On November 11, 1950  she married Orvil "Bill"  Baringer, who preceded her in death on September 18, 2010. 
  
Marianne was a member of  First Church of God in Defiance. With her husband, she owned and operated Baringer's Christian Gift Shop in Defiance for many years. She was a charter board member of the Disciple House, and served the Lord in many ministries throughout the area, especially in missions and children's ministries.
  
Marianne will be greatly missed by her sons, Bill (Deborah) Baringer of Avon, Ohio, Joel (Diane) Baringer of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Mark (Sue) Baringer of Defiance, four grandchildren; Anissa (Phil) Pletcher, Matthew (Betsy) Baringer, Michael (Jennifer) Baringer, and Nicole Baringer, and four great-grandchildren; Tyler and Olivia Pletcher, and Claire and Kendall Baringer. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Helen Shafer of Kalida, and Peggy Johns of Sherwood.
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orvil Baringer, and 9 brothers and sisters.
  
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 9, 2016 at First Church of God, 561 Carter Road, Defiance, Ohio, and for one hour prior to services on Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the church, with Rev. Rick Rufenacht, and Rev. Larry Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Hill Cemetery.
