Douglas Daniel McCague, 76, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  
  
He was born on October 15, 1939 to Dale and Alma (Weller) McCague in Defiance. On October 15, 1966  he married Mary (Bodenburg) McCague, who resides in Defiance.  

Douglas was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Defiance. He served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missle Crisis and Bay of Pigs Invasion. He worked as a Fabricator at Braun Industries from 1972 to 2000, and he worked as Chief Engineer at Defiance College. He also was an Eagle Scout, and a farmer. Douglas volunteered for the Auglaize Township Fire Department. In his later years, he lived at Twin Rivers and The Laurels.
  
Douglas will be sadly missed by his loving spouse of 49 years,  Mary McCague of Defiance, daughter Debralee McCague of Oakwood, granddaughter Raven McCague, and brother James (Millie) McCague of Ney. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Dale McCague, stepmother Martha McCague, stepsisters Jennifer Collins and Raenel Iliff.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11:00 am at Faith Baptist Church, with Pastor Mick Sobieck officiating. Burial will follow at North Mt. Zion Cemetery, with graveside military rites accorded by VFW Post #3360.
