Doris M. Heilman, 99, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2016 at Glenn Park in Defiance, OH.  
  
She was born on June 13, 1916 to Carl and Thekla (Hasselbarth) Marshaus in Defiance, OH. She was Valedictorian of the Defiance High School class of 1934 and graduated from Defiance College. She earned her bachelors in Business Administration and Accounting from the Ohio State University and took graduate courses in finance from Bowling Green University. Doris married Richard Heilman on October 12, 1941. Richard and Doris were avid Ohio State Fans and attended many games together. Go Bucks!

Doris was a member of the American Accounting Association, American Legion Auxiliary (Past President), American Forestry Association, Beta Gamma Sigma National Business Honor Society, Black Swamp Audubon Society, Defiance Community Concert Association, Defiance Humane Society, Municipal Finance Officers Association, League of Women Voters, Ohio State University Alumni Association, Partners of OSU, St. John Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Study League II, University Women Graduates Club.
  
Doris is survived by her loving children Suzanne (William) Hultz of Defiance, OH, and John (Carolyn) Heilman of Defiance, OH, grandchildren, Catherine (Brad) Marzetz, Dawn (Jonathan) Thieman, Carla (Chad) Goff, great-grandchildren, Zachary & Emily Marzetz, and Levi Goff.
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Philip Heilman and beloved husband, Richard J. Heilman.
  
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance, Ohio.
    
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, 1:00 pm at the St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev. Donald L Luhring, officiating.
  
Burial will take place at the St. Stephen Lutheran Cemetery.
