Daniel P. Garza, Sr., 73, of Defiance, passed away on  Monday, October 17, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance.  
 
He was born on September 19, 1943 to Bruno and Consuelo (Prieto) Garza in Corpus Christi, Texas. On August 15, 1964  he married Josephine "Josie" (Martinez) Garza, who resides in Defiance.
 
Daniel was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. He worked at General Motors in Defiance as a Machinist for over 43 years, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed working in his garden and being outside doing yard work. He loved being around his children, grandchildren, and family. Daniel enjoyed Spanish Christian music, cars, and good food.
 
Daniel will be greatly missed by his family; his loving spouse of  52 years, Josie Garza of Defiance, mother, Consuelo Garza of Defiance, daughter, Marie (Steve) Grimm of Lima, Ohio, sons, Daniel (Anita Gonzalez) Garza, Jr. of Defiance, and Joseph "Joe" (Karen Klaus) Garza of Lima, Ohio, 10 Grandchildren:, Vanessa (Ray) Barnt, David Grimm, Nathan Grimm, Joshua Grimm, Daniel Joseph (DJ) Garza, Sydney Garza, Kayla Mack, Zac Garza, Brayden Garza, and Mason Garza, 1 Great-grandchild; Isaac Grimm Walton,  brothers, Frank Garza of Archbold, and Bruno (Jean) Garza, Jr. of Defiance.
 
He was preceded in death by his  father, Bruno B. Garza, brothers, Robert and Richard Garza, and sister, Maria "Vicky" Garza.
 
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Vigil Service at 2:00 pm on Friday.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St. John Catholic Church in Defiance, with Fr. Eric Mueller officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
