William “Bill” S. Piwarski passed away on Saturday November 11, 2023 surrounded by loved ones at CHP Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio. Bill was born August 4, 1956 to Samuel and Elizabeth (Strunk) Piwarski in Saginaw, Michigan. He married in 1983 and had 2 children before divorcing in 2001. After high school Bill started working at General Motors which took him from Saginaw, to Grand Rapids, MI and eventually brought him to Defiance, OH. Bill worked at GM until his retirement after working for over 40 years in 2018. Bill worked a lot but always found time to enjoy the outdoors. He loved spending time in his garden and was happy to share his expertise with anyone who was interested in how he grew such amazing tomatoes. He would go fishing and hunting any chance he got and you could usually find him with a Miller High Life and a cigarette in his hand. If you showed up at the house he would feed you and make sure you had a High Life or a Pepsi in your hand too. Bill was a grill master and delighted in showing his love through food, especially a perfectly cooked steak marinated in Dale’s. Bill was set in his ways but would help anyone who needed it. Those who knew him loved him.
Bill leaves behind his 2 children, William Piwarski and Katie (Alex) Ball, his longtime partner and fiancée Becky Linebrink and their 2 dogs, Jack and Mildred. Bill is also survived by siblings Kathy (Randy) Westphal, David (Loretta) Piwarski, Michael Piwarski, and nieces, nephews and relatives he inherited as an honorary member of the Linebrink family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday November 19, 2023 from 2:00-5:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. There will be no services and a memorial will be arranged in Saginaw at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Arbor Day Foundation or the Michigan United Conservation Club (MUCC).
