William E. Bennett

William E Bennett, age 79, of Defiance, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

He was born November 18, 1945, in Jersey City, to the late James and Helen (Lomenski) Bennett. After high school, William proudly served in the United State Navy, a Veteran of the Vietnam War and a life member of the VFW Post #3360. On April 11, 1974 he married Lois K. Hammon. He retired from Johns Manville, where he was a Furnace Chief. William was a big fan of the New England Patriots and every team that his grandkids played for. He enjoyed building model ships and trains, camping and the outdoors, and being with family.

Surviving him are his loving wife, Lois K. Bennett, sister, Audrey Williams, daughters Cathy Lisk and Krista (Michael) Sanico, sons Garrett Bennett and Timothy (Danielle) Bennett, his grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley, Megan, and Davide Sanico, and Jacob, Hanna, Alivia, and Gabriella Bennett, and his dog, Bella.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Thomas Bennett, and sister Penny Tomanski.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Steve Hammon officiating. William will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by VFW #3360.
