Wilbur Joseph Davis

Wilbur J. Davis, 76, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.  
  
He was born on March 19, 1942 to Harvey and Goldie (Healy) Davis in Defiance, Ohio. On June 16, 1962 he married Cheryl (Brown) Davis, who resides in Defiance. Wilbur worked for SK Tools for 37 years until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Defiance.  Wilbur enjoyed reading, gardening, the outdoors and country music.  He was a huge Johnny Cash fan.  Wilbur's greatest joy of all was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 
    
Wilbur will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Cheryl Davis, children, Angela Davis (Kevin Adair),  James (Patty) Davis, Becky (Tim) Gearhart, Alycia (Jarod) Bany, and Andy (Crystal) Davis, all of Defiance, 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, brothers, Bill (Rose) Waxler, Robert (Rosemary) Davis, Wayne (Barb) Davis, all of Defiance, and Ron Davis of Bryan, and sisters, Carol (Bob) Scott of Sherwood, and Deb Davis of Paulding. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Joey Davis, brothers George Waxler, Ivan Davis, and Danny Davis and sister Lawanna Stark.
  
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Max Begley officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
