Vivian Rose Beerbower, age 90 of Defiance, passed away on Monday morning, March 20, 2023 at Kingsbury Place in Defiance, Ohio.
She was born on May 27, 1932 to the late Lester and Mildred (Collins) Okuley in Holgate, Ohio. Vivian was a graduate of Holgate High School. On September 13, 1952 she married Robert Beerbower, who preceded her in death on November 2, 1990.
Vivian was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance. She was a proud homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her most cherished moments were spent with her family, and she also enjoyed reading, playing cards and growing houseplants.
Vivian is survived by her children; Julie Grindstaff of Toledo, OH, Sue (Todd) Heller of Hamilton, OH, Jane Schultz of Bryan, OH, Christine (Phil) Gohr of Maumee, OH, and Jennifer (Paul Petrik) Beerbower of Knoxville, TN. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and her sisters, Eloise Kruez of Buffalo, New York and Winifred (John) Mangas of Florida.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael E. Beerbower, and brothers Russell and Edward Okuley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Church, or ELARA Hospice.
