Vickie Lynn (Donley) Joice of Defiance, and recently from Bryan, Ohio, died on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Mercy Toledo Heart and Vascular Center, where she had been a patient since May 31st after a tragic fall in her home causing serious injuries and life ending complications.
Vickie was born on November 5, 1958 to Leo and Charlene (Froelich) Donley of Defiance. She worked for Tru Fast of Pioneer and was to retire in several months. She loved her job and the people she worked with became great friends. She was known for her big smile and her loud personality. If there was a reason to celebrate, she was first to volunteer with potlucks, passing around birthday cards for signatures, and gift exchanges at Christmas.
Vickie loved a good deal. Thrifting was a hobby she enjoyed. She was in her happy place at garage sales and Goodwill stores. She also loved a challenge, turning an old retired legion hall into her home. Not sure how all those Veterans would feel about the Barbie Pink painted walls.
Vickie is survived by her son, Michael McCabe who was her pride and joy, her sister Karen (Steve) Fenter, brother Leo (June) Donley, and her many friends who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Charlene Donley, brother David Donley, who always called Vickie his baby sister.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating.
