Vera Faye (Doyle) Willitzer

Vera F. Willitzer, 86, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 11, 2018 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance.  
  
She was born on January 11, 1932 to Harvey and Ada (Harvey) Doyle in Defiance. Vera was a 1949 graduate of Defiance High School. In 1950 she married Donald F. Willitzer, Sr, who preceded her in death on October 23, 1990.  
  
Vera was a life member of  VFW #3360 Auxiliary. She served as Deputy Clerk at the Defiance County Clerk of Courts Office from 1980 to 2009. She was a big fan of NASCAR racing, and going to Eldora Speedway in Rossford, Ohio, Ohio State football, and Defiance High School baseball. Vera will be deeply missed by her family and many good friends.
  
Vera is survived by her children; Donald (Linda) Willitzer, Jr. of Defiance, Faye (Chris) Holbrook of Defiance, Sherry Figy (Curt Behlke) of Defiance, Joe Willitzer of Evansport,  and Penny Schaffer of Defiance, 13 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.  
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Willitzer Sr., son, Jody Willitzer, granddaughter Michelle Miler, six brothers, and seven sisters. 
  
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 15th at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Gene Yenser officiating. Burial will follow the service at  Riverview Memory Gardens.
