Thomas Ray Bailey

Thomas Ray Bailey, 73 years, of Defiance, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.  

Tommy was born on April 7, 1951 in South Williamson, Kentucky to the late Ralph and Ethel Bailey. He married the love of his life, Peggy Cooper on July 23, 1968. Tommy worked at Johns Manville for 47 years until retiring in 2015. 

Tommy didn't know a stranger. He loved talking to people and would strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved riding his Harley’s and talking on his CB radios. He loved his dogs, Maddie and Lucy. Most of all, Tommy loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them and going to their sporting events. 

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Peggy Bailey of Defiance; two children, Michael (Lindsey) Bailey of Defiance, and Jared (Taylor) Bailey of Defiance; three grandchildren, Lane, Tateum, and Otto; four sisters, Dolores Ann Prince of Bradenton, Florida, Doris Fran Bailey of Bradenton, Florida, Debbie (Greg) Hatfield of Forest Hills, Kentucky, and Terri Conley of Tampa, Florida. 

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Roger Conley.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 11:00am - 1:00pm with a Celebration of Life immediately following the visitation at Schaffer Funeral Home.
