Shirley J. (Font) Cramer

Shirley J. Cramer, age 83 of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at University of Toledo Medical Center.
  
She was born on January 31, 1941 to the late Eli and Geraldine (Willitzer) Font in Defiance, Ohio. In 1958 she married the love of her life, Thomas Plummer Sr. who preceded her in death in 1986. Shirley has been happily married to Joe Cramer since 1990.
  
Shirley was a faithful member of St. John Catholic Church and Defiance VFW #3360. She worked at AllStar Products for 19 years and Campbell Soup Company for 20 years until her retirement in 1996. She also enjoyed working in the bakery at Chief Supermarket. Shirley had a passion for baking and was affectionately known by many as "The Cake Lady". For years she has baked her beautiful cakes for numerous families in our community, making every occasion extra special. In her leisure time she enjoyed flowers and gardening. Shirley planted a Blue Spruce tree when each grandchild was born, not knowing she would end up with a lovely forest of Blue Spruce as she is survived by 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, with her first great-great-grandchild due in the spring of 2025. Shirley treasured her time spent with her family and grandkids and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.  
  
Shirley is survived by her loving husband Joe Cramer Sr. of Defiance, her sons, Tom Plummer, Jr., Dennis Plummer, Kris (Michelle) Plummer, and Joseph (Tonia) Cramer, Jr., daughters, Patricia Plummer, Krista (Mark) Pincince, Michelle (Roger) Zahn, and Lisa Cramer, and son-in-law Mark Ryan. She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, brother, Larry (Marie) Font of Angola, IN, and sister, Mary Ankney of Defiance.  
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Thomas Plummer Sr., daughter Wendy Ryan, and sister Pam (Font) Lewis. 
  
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Vigil Service at 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 19th at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr. David Cirata officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens.
