Ruth Ann Boday, 76, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
Ruth was born on March 16, 1942 to James and Gladys (Ketner) Smith at home in Kiefersville, Ohio. On September 16, 1960 she married Donald Lloyd Boday, who preceded her in death on November 22, 2015. Together they shared 55 happy years.
Ruth was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She worked at Glenwood Nursing Home, Tip Top, Kissner's Restaurant, Hench's Pastry, and Fruit Ridge Nursery. In her leisure time she enjoyed baking cookies for everyone, gardening, canning, quilting, crocheting, and working with her flowers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Mary (Tony) Ruhe of Defiance, son James "Jim" Boday of Florida, three grandchildren; Caleb (Emilee) Rankin, Carley (Brad) Riethman, and Brandon Boday, 5 great-grandchildren; Chloe and Cheyenne Rankin, Lily Rankin, Lucy and Logan Riethman, all of Defiance. Ruth also leaves behind a surviving sister, Kathleen (Don) Steiner of Pandora, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and a stillborn infant.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Riverside Cemetery in Defiance, with Rev. Donald L. Luhring officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at St. John Lutheran Church.
