Rosa A. Villarreal

Rosa A. Villarreal, 80, of Butler, Indiana, passed away on November 9, 2024, at the Laurels of Dekalb.  

She was born on January 18, 1944, to the late Romualdo and Maria (Fonseca) Villarreal in Pharr, TX. Rosa met Victor Gomez, Sr. in 1960, and they were together for 26 years until he passed in 1990.

Rosa loved to solve puzzles and word searches. She found joy in coloring pictures, listening and dancing to music, playing bingo and sewing. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially tamales and tortillas. Rosa treasured her time spent with her family, especially time with her grandkids. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Rosa is survived by her loving children, Susie (Miguel) Barcenas, Maria (Mike) Johnson, Victor (Esmeralda) Gomez, Jr., Jessie Ramirez, Gilbert Martinez, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, sisters, Maria Selia Villarreal, Juana Castillo, Martha Varqas, and Diane Harmon, and several nieces and nephews. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Gomez, Sr., sisters, Maria Viola Castillo and Nina Rodriquez, and brothers, Juan Antonio Villarreal and Ricardo Villarreal.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024, 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio. A funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Dale Rabinean officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
