Ronald Duncan

Ronald "Ron" Duncan, age 79 of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025 at the Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN.    
  
He was born in Harlan, Kentucky on August 20, 1946 to the late Delphia (Sheffield) Duncan. He was married to (the late) Fern (McGuire) Duncan who he absolutely adored.   
  
Ron worked for over 40 years at Johns Manville in Defiance until his retirement in 2009. He was a devoted Christian, a family man, and a hard worker who had an extraordinary work ethic. He was a friendly man with the biggest heart. He would spark up a conversation with anyone and share his wisdom. He enjoyed donating to charities, especially those including children. He loved going out to eat, faithfully playing the lottery, and enjoyed watching movies on the internet.
  
Ron is survived by his granddaughter Nicole Houck, who was also his caregiver in his final years, his daughters, Bobbie (Chasey Jones) Petry of Lubbock, TX, Barbara Petry of Defiance, and Tammy Duncan. He also leaves behind his sister, Susan (Yogi) Dalton, brothers, William (Phyllis) Duncan and Gerald "Kenny" (Pat) Duncan, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Nevaeh and Madelynn Houck.
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Fern Duncan, sister Dinah Jones, and granddaughter Stephanie Solari.
  
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Ron will be laid to rest in the Riverview Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
