Ron L. Hard

Ron L. Hard, age 86 of Hicksville, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.   
  
He was born on June 26, 1936 to the late Robert and Georgia (Pfeifer) Hard in Wooster, Ohio. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Coast Guard On August 21, 1966  he married Nancy Dewar, who survives. 
  
Ron was a member of  Defiance VFW #3360 and Elks #147. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Defiance College and was a teacher at Continental Schools for four years, and at Four County Career Center for over 25 years until his retirement. Ron was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, he enjoyed golf and boating, and he loved lighthouses, being stationed on one in the Coast Guard. Ron was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, and he loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
  
Ron will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy Hard, and his daughter, Amy (Mark) Haver, all of Hicksville, OH, his grandchildren Arman Haver of Hicksville, and Malika Haver of Durham, NC, and his sister, Darlene Michaels of Delta, OH. 
  
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Fr. John Stites officiating.
