Roger William Maddock, age 87 of Defiance, passed away Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 25, 1938 to William and Frances (Povenmire) Maddock in Defiance, Ohio. On November 29, 1968, he married Emma (Drennan) Maddock who preceeded him in death.
Roger grew up in Defiance and graduated from Ayersville High School. He worked at a number of jobs including Johns Manville before going into the Air Force. He then attended BGSU for his bachelors and later the University of Southern Mississippi for his master degrees which were both in Industrial Arts Education. He worked for over 30 years at Fort Jennings High School before enjoying his retirement.
Roger was a talented woodworker and could design and build a wide range of projects and fix most anything. He enjoyed photography, technology and gardening among his wide range of interests.
Roger is survived by his three children Amy (Randy) Fletcher of Perrysburg OH, Jason (Jennifer) Maddock, and Ben (Regina) Maddock, all of Defiance, nine grandchildren, and his brother Jerry Maddock of Defiance.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home. A short service will follow at 11:00 and he will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Interim Hospice.
