Rodger Lewis Proxmire

Rodger L. Proxmire, 77, of Defiance, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance, Ohio. He was born on August 8, 1946 to Florence (Coffman) and Gaylord J. Proxmire Sr. in Defiance. Rodger worked at Paulding Co Engineers Office for 36 years until his retirement in 2002. He enjoyed driving and attending Cincinnati Reds ball games. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Rodger is survived by his brothers, Gaylord (Patty) Proxmire Jr. of Defiance, Steve (Andrea) Proxmire of Aurora, CO, and Jeffery Proxmire of Defiance, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Frank Proxmire. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate his life will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Rev. David Brobston officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens.
