Robert V. Westrick

Robert "Bob" Westrick, 83, husband of Barbara Westrick of Defiance Ohio, peacefully passed away on Wednesday evening June 19, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital with his family by his side.  

He was born on December 28, 1935 to Vincent and  Florence (Coressel) Westrick in Defiance, Ohio. On October 12, 1957 he married Barbara Schmunk who survives in Defiance.
 
Bob was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and loved participating in the choir and guitar group. He retired from G.H. Voight Plumbing after 30 plus years of service.  Bob never met a stranger, and he made everyone he met feel like family and welcomed anyone into his home.

Bob loved his wife and lifelong best friend Barb, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his children's spouses just like his own. He found great joy watching all sports and especially anything which involved his children and grandchildren.
 
Bob is survived by his loving spouse of 61 years, Barbara and his eight children, Gregory (Cheri) Westrick, Kevin (Debra) Westrick, Keith (Ann) Westrick, Phil (Karen) Westrick, Eric Westrick, Ann (John) Rivers, Amy (Tod) Liffick, and Jason (Heather) Westrick.  He leaves behind fifteen grandchildren; Chris Hoeffel, Jessica Westrick, Chelsea Westrick, Amber Martin, Dakota Westrick, Cheyann (Derek) Westrick-Turner, Taylor Westrick, Paige Westrick, Brittni Rivers, Weston Rivers, Alec Rivers, Wade Liffick, Kendall Liffick, Luke Westrick and Matthew Westrick; along with  2 great-grandchildren, Cayne Hoeffel and Bayla Bortel.  Bob will also be dearly missed by his siblings; Jean Ludwig, Roger Westrick, Donald (Georgienne) Westrick, Gary Westrick, and Dennis (Teri) Westrick.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, Jerry Ludwig.
 
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Vigil Service at 2:00 pm in Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.  Additional visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in St. Mary's Catholic Church.

**Please note visitation will be on Saturday and Services will be on Monday**
     
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 11:00 am at St Mary Catholic Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Father John Stites, officiating.
 
Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery.
 
Memorials are suggested to the church.
