Robert W. Wesche

Robert W. "Bob" Wesche, age 85 of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.   
  
He was born on March 16, 1937 to the late Orville and Mildred (Relue) Wesche in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. Bob proudly served our country in the U.S. Army National Guard for nine years. On December 17, 1982 he married Virginia (Weller) Wesche, who preceded him in death on February 13, 2022.

Bob was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance, American Legion #117, and N.W. Ohio Barbershop Choir. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Jewell Fire Dept. for 60 years. He was also a member of 37th Division Veteran Association, 148th Veteran Infantry Regiment, and the Veteran's Association. He worked at Dinner Bell for 35 years, and then as a Generator Tech at Martin Diesel in Defiance for 20 years. Bob loved his cats. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
  
Bob is survived by his children; Richard (Mary) Wesche of Gulf Port, MS, Dennis Wesche of Eaton, OH, and Shannon (Travis) Couch of Cape Coral, FL, his stepson, Shawn (LaDonna) Tingler of Wapakoneta, OH, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and his brothers, Tom (Katie) Wesche of Arkansas and Ken Wesche of South Dakota.
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Wesche, and his sister Suzanne Guelde.
  
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
