Robert R. Sauber

Robert R. Sauber, 88, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Friday morning, May 20, 2022 at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.  He was born on February 6, 1934 to Joseph and Catherine (Schindler) Sauber in Defiance, Ohio. On July 9, 1955 he married Helen Arend who survives. 
  
Robert was a member of St. John Catholic Church. He worked as a Mason and was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed collecting antiques. 

Robert is survived by his loving wife Helen Sauber of Defiance, sons, Robert (Sheila) Sauber, Edmund (Julie) Sauber, and Raymond (Stacy) Sauber all of Defiance, his daughters, Susan (Gary) Richey of Defiance, and Annette (David) Tebbe of Ft. Wayne, IN, 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, his brothers, Art (Carol) Sauber of Defiance, Tom Sauber of Fayette, Fred (Denise) Sauber of Archbold, and, Don (Karen) Sauber of Defiance, and his sister, Bernie Florence of Defiance.
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary Arend and Gertie Arbogast, and brothers, Joe and Kenny Sauber.
  
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Rosary Service at 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. John's Catholic Church in Defiance with  Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evansport Cemetery.
