Robert L. Polasek, age 78, passed away peacefully on the evening of February 19, 2025 at Defiance Hospice Center with his family at his bedside. He was born to Steve and Bessie (Sochor) Polasek on February 8, 1947 in Defiance, Ohio.
Robert, known to many as Bob, dedicated his life to his loving family. He proudly served in the Army National Guard. Bob was baptized into the Catholic faith and was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Ridge. He graduated from Tinora High School.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Bessie Polasek, and his beloved brother, Walter Polasek, who passed just six days prior. He is survived by his nephew, Ben (Susan) Polasek, niece-in-law and caregiver Susan Polasek, his niece Jodi (Rodney) Barnes, his great-nephews Reagan Polasek (Friend Cierra Black) and Kantrell Hicks, great-niece Kiara Hicks (Friend John Fugate), as well as sister-in-law Darlene Polasek.
Bob dedicated nearly 30 years of service to Defiance Precision Products (GT Technologies), where he worked until his retirement. In his younger days, he and his brother Walt shared a deep passion for farming, spending countless hours attending farm auctions, visiting machinery dealers, and calling on relatives.
Family was at the heart of everything Bob did. He created countless cherished memories with his niece-in-law Susan and great-nephew Reagan, including morning donut time before school, trips to African Safari, and many other special adventures. He was a beloved presence in the lives of all his family, offering kindness, support, and laughter.
Bob will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, and his love of farm life. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. Melwin D'Souza officiating. Bob will be laid to rest in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
