Richard J. Maxson

Richard J. "Dick" Maxson, age 61 of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at his residence in Defiance.   
  
He was born on August 21, 1961 to the late Richard and Gwenlyn (Bradshaw) Maxson in Flint, Michigan. Dick was a graduate of Millington High School. He was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering for various ministries. Dick worked for Matcor-Matsu Inc. and Money Mushrooms. In his leisure time he enjoyed odd jobs and tinkering around. He was a jack of all trades and was always generous and giving to others. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dick will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
  
Dick is survived by his children; Laura Shock and Roland (Lacey) Maxson, all of Defiance, nine grandchildren; Damien Dailey, Kirsten Hale, Amelia, Charlotte, Zeddrick, Matias, and  Addamae Maxson, Cyrena Wright and Ashlyn Beckman, and his siblings; Les (Diane) Maxson of Millington, MI, Peggy (Steve) Wipf of Columbia, TN, Tina Marcellis of Midland, MI, Deanna (Mike) Beckman of Davison, MI, Betty Maxson of Port Charlotte, FL, William Maxson of Flint, MI, and Debbie (Terri) Maiers of Badin, NC. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ricky Maxson, sister Joanne Maxson, and son-in-law Phillip Shock.
  
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Rev. David Brobston officiating.
