Rev. William "Bill" Sherry

Rev. William W. "Bill" Sherry, age 79 of Defiance, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Glenn Park of Defiance.  

He was born in Paulding, Ohio on October 13, 1946, to the late Rex and Betty (Bair) Sherry. Bill was a graduate of Auglaize Brown Local High School, earned his Bachelor's of Science Degree from Defiance College, and graduated from Winebrenner Theological Seminary, earning his Master of Divinity. On February 20, 1971, he married the love of his life, Linda (Smart) Sherry who preceded him in death on May 16, 2019.

Bill was the Pastor of Middle Creek United Methodist Church for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed writing, gardening and biblical studies. Bill treasured his time spent with his family.

Bill is survived by his sons, Christopher John Sherry of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Michael Austin Sherry of Columbus, OH, and his brother, Dan Sherry of Arizona. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Sherry, and his siblings, Carol Russell, Jeff Sherry, David Sherry, Retha Finnegan, and Jeanette Rollins.

Bill will be laid to rest at a later date.
