Raymond M. Mays, 74, of Liberty Center, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 in Liberty Center, Ohio.
He was born on January 5, 1946 to Riley and Jeanette (Helbert) Mays in Wise, Virginia. Raymond proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Dupont Church of the Brethren, and Defiance AmVets #1991. He worked at Campbell's Soup Co. in Napoleon for over 40 years until his retirement in 2008. Raymond enjoyed drinking his coffee, reading, and watching football.
Raymond will be sadly missed by his son, Raymond (Tammy) Mays of Muskegon, MI, his daughters, Connie (Tony) Dixon of Defiance, and Myra (Dave) Schweitzer of Defiance, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his four brothers, Robert (Debra) Mays of Duffield, VA, Earl Mays of Duffield, VA, Roy Mays of Dundee, MI, and Samuel Mays of Defiance. He also leaves behind six sisters, Patsy (John) Carlston of Liberty Center, OH, Paulette Mays of Abington, VA, Linda Roddy of Defiance, Lois (The Late Thomas) Perrin of Nickelsville, VA, Brenda Mays of Defiance, and Margaret Williams of Duffield, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Frampton Eichling, Loretta Mansfield, and Georgia Lee Mays.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Rev. Terry Porter, Pastor Jeff Wallen, and Pastor Timothy Carlston officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
