Randy G. F. Fortman

Randy G.F. Fortman, age 69 of Defiance, passed away on Friday morning, November 7, 2025 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.

He was born in Defiance, Ohio on January 23, 1956 to George and Carolyn (Liska) Fortman. Randy was a 1974 graduate of Tinora High School. He worked for over 45 years at General Motors in Defiance until his retirement. Randy was a member of Defiance Moose Lodge #2094 and Eagles #372. He liked being outdoors and enjoyed farming, trapping, hunting and fishing. He liked to play darts, talk football, and also found joy in just staying home. Randy will be missed by his family and good friends.

Randy is survived by his mother, Carolyn Fortman, his children, April (Tim) McCarty and Kyle Fortman, and his grandson Dryden White, all of Defiance. He also leaves behind his brothers, Ricky Fortman and Rex (Naomi) Fortman, his nephew Shawn Fortman, and niece Sara Fortman.

He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Fortman.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 12th at the funeral home, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating. Randy will be laid to rest in Riverview Memory Gardens.
