Ralph R. Johnson

Ralph R. Johnson, 84, of Oakwood, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at his home in Oakwood, Ohio.  
  
He was born on February 14, 1934 to Virgil and Grace (Fitzwater) Johnson in Paulding, Ohio. In February, 1986  he married Alice (Ward) Johnson, who resides in Paulding.

Ralph was an active member of Auglaize Chapel Church, the Men's Fellowship, and he was a Trustee. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1957, and the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1957 to 1962. Ralph worked at Johns Manville for over 44 years. He loved to golf and enjoyed woodworking. Ralph was a huge fan of the Defiance Bulldog, The Ohio State University football team, and was a Peyton Manning fan as well. Every Saturday morning he had breakfast with his family at Bob Evans. He was known for hosting the best bonfires and wiener roasts for over 26 years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
  
Ralph will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 32 years, Alice Johnson of Oakwood, daughters, Michelle (Bill) Coirier of Madison, AL, Rikki (Dave) Carnahan of Defiance, Robin (Rick) Baden of Defiance, Roxanne (Robert) Burkhart of Defiance, and Sherri (Frank) Williamson of Perrysburg, stepdaughter, Julie (Dan) Shaffer of Oakwood, stepson, Dennis Bennett of Oakwood, 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sisters, Jean (Russ) Rigg of Vaughnsville, OH, and Ginger (Roger) Chester of Payne. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepson, Roger Alan Bennett, and grandson, Devon Carlton.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 7th at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Stan Harmon officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sherman Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites.
