Peggy Jean (Bolley) Kemp

Peggy Jean Kemp, age 92, of Defiance, formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Tuesday evening,  April 29, 2025 at Kingsbury Place in Defiance, Ohio.

She was born in Defiance on August 15, 1932 to the late George and Mildred (Andrews) Bolley. She was a 1950 graduate of Defiance High School. In July, 1950 she married Paul Grosenbacher who passed away. She was married to Bud Kemp, who preceded her in death on April 30, 2020.

Peggy owned and operated her own hair salon "Salon del Rio" for over 20 years. She loved living at Lake George, being outdoors, and spending the winters in Florida. She enjoyed camping and traveling in her RV. Peggy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who treasured her time spent with her family, who all brought her great joy in her life. She was a disciple of Jesus Christ and loved Him dearly.

Peggy is survived by her sons, Steve (Patricia) Grosenbacher and Kim Grosenbacher, all of Defiance, her beloved grandchildren; Steven (Julie) Grosenbacher Jr., Tracie (John) McLaughlin, Laura (Josh) Mast, Dacia MacCauley, Jessica (Trey) Pitre, Brooke (Jay) Harper, Skyler Grosenbacher, Nicole Greene-Kenyon, Melissa Greene and Allen Greene, and her step-grandchildren; Carey (Steve) Ungerer, Buddy (Becky) Kemp and Loree Kemp. She was also a proud grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Jill Ross, granddaughter Haley Greene, and stepson Richard Kemp.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home, with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. Peggy will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
