Paul Ryan Wischmeyer, age 65 of Defiance, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Paul was born in Bryan, Ohio on July 9, 1959 to the late John and Dorothy (Sharman) Wischmeyer. He was a 1977 graduate of Defiance High School. On November 17, 2015 he married Cheryl (Zipfel) Hahn who survives.
Paul was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He worked at Ravenna Machine and DMP (MEC) both in Defiance for several years until his retirement in 2024. Paul loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He enjoyed playing his guitar, boating, and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered and sadly missed by his family and many good friends.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Cheryl Wischmeyer of Defiance, his children, Ryan Wischmeyer of Napoleon, and Emily Leatherman of Paulding, and his stepchildren, Jonathan (Gert) Hahn, Megan Hahn and Jordan Hahn, all of Defiance. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, and his sisters, Dee Darbo of Sandpoint, ID and Joni Wischmeyer of Clovis, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father John Wischmeyer, mother Dorothy Frisinger, sister, Judith Frisinger, and brother, John Wischmeyer.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, May 5, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Fr. John Stites officiating. A private burial will take place at Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan Ohio.
