Paul John Vernot

Paul John Vernot, 73, passed away at his home, Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

On July 24, 1951 he was born to John and Patricia Vernot in Saginaw, Michigan. Paul graduated from Vassar High School in Vassar, Michigan in 1969. On July 10, 1969, Paul and Constance (Davis) were married.

Paul attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan and worked for General Motors for more than 50 years between Saginaw, Michigan and Defiance, Ohio. He was a journeyman electrician and later became an HVAC technician. He retired in 2022.

In 1971, Paul's life was changed when he accepted Jesus Christ as His Savior. Paul walked with God the rest of his life and was beloved by his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed a number of hobbies including woodworking, traveling, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Vernot; his mother, Patricia (Fekette) Vernot; his stepmother, Mary (Fekette) Vernot and his sister, Mary Jane Mrazek.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Constance of Defiance; his brother, Richard Vernot, California; his sister, Kathleen Lynn, Arizona; children, Thomas (Sheila), Wauseon; Susan, Defiance; John (Martha), Bristol, VA; Michael, Defiance; James (Monica), Holland, OH; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 24th at the funeral home, with Pastor Chuck Whitmire of Shiloh Christian Church in Delta, Ohio officiating.
