Paul B. Roehrig

Paul B. Roehrig, age 92 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. 
  
He was born in Defiance, Ohio on August 12, 1932 to the late Olin and Veronica (Cupp) Roehrig. Paul proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952. He served in the time of reconstruction of Germany after WW II. On February 24, 1954 he married Edna Marlene Rau who preceded him in death on November 28, 2022. 
  
Paul was a faithful member of  St. Mary Catholic Church, and life member of both Defiance VFW #3360 and AmVets #1991. He took great pride owning his own painting business, Roehrig Painting. He enjoyed watching movies, WWE wrestling, playing golf going to casinos, going out to eat, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Paul had many good friends and colleagues, and will be greatly missed by so many that loved him.  
  
Paul is survived by his children, Connie (Rick) Weaver, Julie (Ron) Burk, Teresa (Chris) Tyler and Paul (Laurie) Roehrig II, all of Defiance. He was a proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, Chris (Susan) Hopper, Kable Derrow, Christopher (Courtney) Tyler, Stephanie (Jason) Eckert, Samantha (Nathaniel) Zachrich, Paul "PJ" (Jackie) Roehrig III, Sydney (Austin Hilvers) Roehrig and eleven great-grandchildren, and also leaves behind his brothers, John, Wayne and Denny Roehrig. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Edna Marlene Roehrig, brothers Donald, Gene and Lynn Roehrig, and sisters Joyce Shock and June Hoffman.
  
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 5-8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 13th at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Fr. Jason D'Souza officiating. Paul will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, with graveside military honors accorded by VFW #3360.
