Patsy Lynn (Armstrong) McDowell

Patsy Lynn McDowell, age 83 of Defiance, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025 peacefully in her home.  
  
She was born in Defiance, Ohio on May 16, 1942 to the late Charles and Geneva (Humes) Armstrong. Patsy was a 1960 graduate of Defiance High School. On June 26, 1986 she married Thomas A. McDowell who preceded her in death on January 4, 2014.

In her younger years Patsy attended the Pilgrim Holiness and Nazarene Churches in Defiance, and most recently the First Baptist Church in Napoleon. She worked at G.C. Murphy in Defiance and retired from Bryan Custom Plastics (Plastech) in Bryan. In her leisure time she loved crocheting, baking, gardening, and sewing her own clothes.

Patsy is the last surviving sibling in her family. She had a wonderful, happy childhood and was raised with five brothers and two sisters. She had no children of her own, but leaves behind a stepdaughter, Vonda (Felix) Tijerina of Defiance, and was the proud Aunt of 27 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas, her siblings, and stepson Dwaine McDowell.
 
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Michael Armstrong officiating. Patsy will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
