Patricia "Pat" Lee Marshall

Patricia Lee "Pat"  Marshall, age 77 of Defiance, passed away on Thursday morning, July 17, 2025 at Mercy Defiance Hospital.   
  
She was born on March 21, 1948 to Robert and Mary (Miler) Marshall in Defiance, Ohio. Pat was a 1966 graduate of Defiance High School and proudly earned her Bachelor's Degree from Concordia University.

Pat was a member of The Gathering Place and St. John Lutheran Church. For 48 years she loved teaching at Luther Memorial in Cleveland and St. John Lutheran School in Defiance. She coached Little League Girls Softball, Women's Church League Softball and was an official referee for volleyball for over 25 years. Pat loved working with youth groups and teaching Bible Studies to children and adults. She also taught outdoor education at the Boy Scout Camp for 25 years and was an Athletic Director at St. John Lutheran School. In her leisure time she enjoyed camping at the Funny Farm and playing sports. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. Pat has touched many people's lives through her walk with Jesus through teaching, bible studies, counseling and friendships. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Pat is survived by her nieces, Dawn Ferris of Defiance, Teresa (Rusty) Suman of Centerville, TN, Christina (Jerrod) Augsburger and Ginger Marshall, all of Fostoria, OH, her nephews, Mike (Theresa) Derringer of Evansville, IN and Jake (Michelle) Marshall of Holgate, OH. She also leaves behind 11 great-nieces and nephews, 3 great-great-nieces and nephews, and her long time best friend, Elaine Ott of Defiance.
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Marshall, sister Jeanne Derringer, and great-niece Kennedy Ferris.
  
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd at 11:00 am at The Gathering Place, 602 Clinton Street in Defiance with Pastor Steve Buttermore officiating. There will be one hour of visitation before the service. Pat will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
