Patricia Anne Pessefall (Seibenick) passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at the age of 79. Patty was the beloved wife of Clifford "Cliff" or "Bud" Pessefall, Jr. Patty was born December 15, 1944, in Defiance, Ohio to Richard and Mildred (Noneman) Seibenick.
One of the greatest love stories of all time began when Patty met Cliff at the age of 16 at the Skylark in Defiance. Their first date was to see the movie "Lady and the Tramp," which was showing at the old Valentine Theater. A couple years later, Cliff proposed to Patty outside the Post Office, following which they married on July 27, 1963, at Saint John’s Catholic Church. To this day, Cliff likes to say that Patty was the most beautiful bride he's ever seen. Through good times and bad, Patty and Cliff held strong for more than 61 years.
Together with Cliff, Patty raised seven children, Douglas of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; Stephen of Wadsworth, Ohio; Michelle Somerville (Jason) of Vienna, West Virginia; Philip (Amy) of Wheaton, Illinois; Jill Jenkins (Chris) of Kent, Ohio; Tracy Moore (Joe) of Medina, Ohio, and Jennifer Whited (Scott) of Stow, Ohio.
Patty was the proud grandmother of Brice, Jenni, John, Emily, Eddie, Julia, Jake, Rachel, Tyler, Savannah, Sarah, Sam, Josh, Matthew, and Katie. Patty also was the proud great grandmother of Maizey and Kooper.
Patty is survived by her sisters Susan Horton of West Harwich, Massachusetts and Jan (Tom) Farr of Defiance, Ohio, her sister-in-law Pam Seibenick and her lifelong "ride or die" Juanita (Jim) Small. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mildred Seibenick and her brother Mike Seibenick.
Patty retired after a successful career in banking while running the household and doing whatever her family needed. She was best known for her wit, sense of humor, intelligence, patience, and selflessness. She was an excellent baker. Her superb cookies were often hidden by her children (from each other) as they were “the best in the universe” and made with love.
Patty never told, confirmed or nodded when any of her children proclaimed to be her favorite and, yet, each child somehow knew they were her favorite. Patty was always there for a child or grandchild's milestone, whether it be a Baptism, First Communion, play, high school or college graduation. She enjoyed family gatherings, short and long road trips to visit her children and grandchildren, and regular outings to restaurants, wineries, casinos, and bingo nights with Cliff.
Patty was fiercely protective and loyal to family and friends. Patty loved and was loved, and she will be remembered and missed.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance, Ohio. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am, with Fr. David Cirata officiating. Patti will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
