Nancy M. Steel

Nancy M. Steel, 82, of Paulding, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.   
  
She was born on June 29, 1940 to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Conley) Parr in Paulding, Ohio. On October 24, 1959 she married James L. Steel, who preceded her in death on July 22, 1998.

Nancy was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance and Divine Mercy Catholic Churches. She worked at Ayersville Schools in the cafeteria, retiring after 20 years of service. She enjoyed reading, being outdoors, gardening, taking road trips to Michigan with her husband, playing cards, and especially spending time with her family. Nancy was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her family and many good friends.
  
Nancy is survived by her children; Jamie (Wayne) Tipton and Cindy (Jerry) Vandemark, all of Defiance, and Mike (Renee) Steel of Bowling Green, OH. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren; Eric Tipton, Jason Steel, Beth Schneider, Lindsay Sandor, Paul Steel, Bryant Vandemark and Jacqueline Steel, and ten great-grandchildren. 
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Steel, and her great-granddaughter Rylee Tipton.
  
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 19, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Fr. David Cirata officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
