Murlan Miller

Murlan  R. Miller, age 90, of Defiance, passed away on  July 6, 2025 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center with family and friends by his side.
  
He was born in Defiance on October 4, 1934 to the late Arthur F. and Minnie E. (Elling) Miller. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Defiance and attended St. John Lutheran School through grade school. He was a 1952 graduate of Defiance High School. Murlan proudly served our country in the US Navy from 1953-1957. He was also a life member of Defiance VFW Post #3360. On October 12, 1958 he married Helen L. Nickel in St. John Lutheran Church and she preceded him in death on November 24, 2024.

Murlan was a printer for ten years before working at General Motors in Defiance as a supervisor until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed fishing with his wife at their lake home in Houghton Lake, Michigan. He also enjoyed all types of crafts, which he and his wife gave away as Christmas gifts. 

Murlan is survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Preceding him in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Melvin E. Miller and Harold C. Miller, and one sister Mathilda A. Schroeder.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 9:00 -11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church. A funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00 am with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. Murlan will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
