Matthew Scott Wurster, 57, of Defiance, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home in Defiance.  
  
He was born on August 6, 1959 to Jack and Sandy (Packer) Wurster in Defiance. On September 28, 2002  he married Kim (Hinesley) Wurster, who resides in Defiance. 
  
Matt worked with the Maintenance Department with Defiance City Schools for  27 years. He was a member of AMVETS, Eagles Post #372, Moose Lodge #2094, Defiance Fish & Game, and he was former President of the School Union Local #009. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, Harley Davidson motorcycles, and Civil War reenactments.
  
Matthew is survived by his loving spouse of 14 years, Kim Wurster of Defiance, parents Sandy and Jack Wurster, daughters, Autumn (James) Kirk, and Samantha (Matt) Martin, son, Phillip (Laura) Shock, sister, Geraldine (Jim) Dodson, brothers, Todd (Michele) Wurster and Steven Wurster, grandchildren:, Freya, Damien, Isabelle, Kirsten, Kaeleigh, and Brielle. 
  
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Orta, brother, Brent Wurster, and brother-in-law John Orta.
  
Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm, and  6-8 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral  Home.
