Matthew G. Solak

Matthew G. Solak, age 69, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.   
  
Son of the late Edward and Stella (Slawinski) Solak, Matt was born on October 4, 1955 in Saginaw, Michigan. 

He dedicated many years to General Motors, retiring from the GM Plant in Defiance in 2021. There he met his loving wife Patty and they spent 22 years of marriage together.

Matt loved to cook for his family and longtime buddies at Deer Camp. He enjoyed staying busy with outdoor projects and taking the family dogs for walks down his long lane to get the mail. Matt was kindhearted and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also had a great sense of humor and could bring a smile to anyone's face. He will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones.
  
Matt is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Patty Porter) Solak of Cecil, his stepdaughter Tisha Sandys of Defiance, two sisters and two brothers, Geralyn Solak-Shawn of Martinez, Georgia, Carleen Solak of Saginaw, Michigan, Mark (Tami) Solak of Roanoke, Indiana, John (Robin) Solak of Brighton, Michigan, brother-in-law Rick Monte of Fishers, Indiana, and three step-grandchildren, Paige Sandys, Isabel Sandys and Logan Sandys, all of Defiance, and many nieces and nephews.
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Mary Ann Monte.
  
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 3:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. 

Matt's family would like to thank the staff at CHP Hospice for their help.
