Mary Ruth (Hickey) Henry

Mary Ruth Henry, age 85 of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at her home.   
  
She was born on April 29, 1934 to Irvin and Vella Mae Hickey in Morristown, Tennessee. Mary worked for several years at General Motors until her retirement in 1996. She established and maintained contact with numerous friends and colleagues from her years at the Defiance Foundry. Mary was a radical fan of the University of the Alabama Football Team. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ many years ago and regularly attended First Assembly of God in Defiance until her health deteriorated. Mary will be sadly missed by her family and many good friends.

Mary is survived by her sons, Roger (Sara) Henry of Defiance, Steve Henry, and  Jerry (Alice) Elrod of Ayersville, daughter Penny (Jim) Johnson of Frankfort, KY, grandson David (Tina) Henry of Paulding, and her sisters, Ruby Spencer and Susie Proffit, both of Morristown, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, her daughter, Pam Henry, and her son, Stan Henry.

A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held from 5-7 pm on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance.
