Mary Lou (Vance) Lloyd

Mary Lou Lloyd, age 82 of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at home surrounded by loved ones. 

She was born in Defiance, Ohio on February 23, 1943, to the late Leo and Vanda (Kunesh) Vance. Mary Lou was a 1961 graduate of Ayersville High School. On June 26, 1971, she married Dale W. Lloyd, who preceded her in death in 2000. 

Mary Lou was an active and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Women's Auxiliary. She volunteered at the food pantry and enjoyed several Bible Study groups. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and loved baking with her kids and grandkids. In her leisure time she enjoyed caring for her chickens and dogs, puzzles, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and playing euchre and scrabble. She treasured her time spent with her family.

Mary Lou will be sadly missed by her children, Joe Lloyd and Laura (Shane) Thomas, six grandchildren; Dylan, Jake, Brooke, Stephanie, Chelsi and Alexis, and seven great-grandchildren; Mila, Kaylee, Tobi, Aria, Ella, Dale and Ivory. 

In addition to parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy Vance, and daughter-in-law, Angie Lloyd.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, February 16th at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Fr. David Cirata officiating. Mary Lou will be laid to rest in Ice Cemetery in Paulding County.
