Mary Evalyn (Steel) Combs

Mary E. Combs, age 81 of Defiance, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.  
  
She was born on July 8, 1943 to Leo "Bud" and Marjorie (Groh) Steel in Defiance, Ohio. On March 27, 1965 she married Louis W. Combs, who preceded her in death on May 5, 2005. Mary was a faithful and lifelong member of First Assembly of God. She worked for several years as a Nurse's Aide until her retirement. 
  
Mary will be sadly missed by her children, Julie Myers and Devonna (Brett) Porter, all of Defiance, Eric (Brandi) Combs of London, KY, and Neal (Nicole) Combs of Defiance. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; Miranda, Deric, Taylor, Mackenzie, Lucian and Griffin, seven great-grandchildren; Jace, Elijah, June, Sebastian, Uriah, Caroline and Liam, her sister, Kathy (Bob) Masterson of Cleveland, OH, and brother, David Steel of Cecil, OH. 
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Combs, brother Ronnie Steel, and sisters, Vickie Kiessling, Peggy Steel and Ruth Underwood.

There will be no services at this time. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
