Obituary
Mary M. Simon Colwell, age 90 of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, July 15, 2023 at The Laurels of Defiance.
She was born in Putnam County, Ohio on October 12, 1932 to the late George and Ruth (Hiltner) Simon. Mary was a graduate of Continental High School and had lived on Krouse Road since her marriage to Richard John Colwell on September 5, 1959.
Mary was busy her whole life farming, taking care of her homes, and her Shihtzu "Chu-Chu" along with several other pets that she loved dearly. She enjoyed playing bridge, taking day trips and shopping.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Winkle of Continental, OH, and Sarah Jane Ashley of Lake Gage, IN, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Colwell, her son, Danny John Colwell, and sister, Carol Rae Simon.
There will be no visitation or services. Burial will take place in Monroe Cemetery. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
